Borussia Dortmund Injury Update Ahead of Heidenheim Clash

Key Players Set to Miss Match

Borussia Dortmund will be without several key players for their upcoming DFB-Pokal clash against Heidenheim on Tuesday. Captain Marco Reus, who has been struggling with an ankle injury, is expected to miss the match. Mahmoud Dahoud is out with a shoulder injury, while Thorgan Hazard is sidelined with a muscle problem.

In addition, defender Mats Hummels is suspended for the match after receiving a red card in Dortmund's previous match. This leaves Dortmund with a number of holes to fill in their starting lineup.

Can Dortmund Overcome Injuries?

Despite the injuries, Dortmund will still be favored to win the match against Heidenheim. The German giants have a deep squad and should be able to cope with the absences of a few key players. However, the injuries could make it difficult for Dortmund to maintain their recent good form.

Dortmund have won their last three matches in all competitions, including a 4-1 victory over Sevilla in the Champions League. However, they will need to be at their best to overcome Heidenheim, who are a dangerous team on their day.

Heidenheim Hoping to Cause Upset

Heidenheim are currently 10th in the Bundesliga 2 table, but they have a good record against top-flight opposition in the DFB-Pokal. They have reached the semi-finals of the competition in the past two seasons, and they will be hoping to cause another upset against Dortmund.

Heidenheim coach Frank Schmidt is confident that his team can get a result against Dortmund, despite the injuries to the German giants. Schmidt said: "We know that Dortmund are a very good team, but we are confident that we can cause them problems. We have a good team spirit and we are always difficult to beat at home."

Match Preview

The match between Borussia Dortmund and Heidenheim will be played at the Voith-Arena in Heidenheim on Tuesday, January 31. The match will start at 18:30 CET.

Dortmund will be looking to continue their good form and reach the next round of the DFB-Pokal. Heidenheim will be hoping to cause an upset and reach the quarter-finals of the competition for the third season in a row.
