Chelsea Elizabeth Manning, born Bradley Edward Manning on December 17, 1987, is an American activist, whistleblower, and former United States Army intelligence analyst. For her actions, Manning faced severe consequences. In 2013, she was convicted of espionage and other charges related to the leak and sentenced to 35 years in prison. However, in 2017, President Barack Obama commuted her sentence, and she was released after serving seven years behind bars.
