Early Life and Career
Stephen Allen Schwarzman, born on February 14, 1947, is an American billionaire businessman who is the chairman and CEO of the Blackstone Group. He co-founded Blackstone in 1985, which has since become one of the world's largest alternative investment firms with over $1 trillion in assets under management.
Schwarzman began his career at Lehman Brothers in 1970. He left Lehman Brothers in 1985 to co-found Blackstone with his former colleague, Pete Peterson. Blackstone initially focused on real estate and private equity investments, but has since expanded into other areas, including hedge funds, credit, and infrastructure.
